Candles enhancing religious services...
Candles in a window, lighting the way back home...
Candles lending a festive feeling to any occasion...
Candles on a table, enhancing a special dinner...
Candles held by those standing vigil...
Candles on a birthday cake, counting the years of our lives
Candles in a menorah signifying a miracle that happened eons ago...
Candles creating an romantic atmosphere for lovers...
Candles marking the scene of some accident or tragic event...
Candles on an advent wreath in anticipation of Christmas...
Candles carried by carolers as they lift their voices in song...
Candles at a shrine continuing to send prayers heavenward...
Candles at Easter representing Jesus, the Light of the World...
Candles forcing darkness to flee...
These are just a few of the ways candles are an integral part
of our lives. These sticks of wax and wick are everywhere. They help us to commemorate
the past and celebrate the present. But above all, they represent HOPE for the
future. Whenever you light a candle, say a little prayer that candles of hope
will dispel the darkness of war, hate and fear that surround us, and light the
way to a future of peace and love for all the world.
